Abstract
The effect of the tapering speed in the corticosteroid therapy on the recurrence of Herpes simplex virus keratitis was investigated by reviewing 66 cases who were treated and followed in the Department of Ophthalmology of SNUH, from January 1981 to March 1985. The results were as followings: 1. The keratitis recurred more frequently in steroid-used group(25.0%) than in steroid not-used group(11.8%). 2. The corticosteroid tapering speed was significantly higher in recurred group than that in not-recurred group. 3. The mean maintain period was 2.78 week in recurrred group and 1.68 week in not-recurred group. 4. The mean tapering period was 4.00 week in recurred group and 4.32 week in not-recurred group.
