Abstract
Malignant lymphoma is a malignant tumor involving the lymphoid cells in lymph node, gastrointestinal tract, skin, respiratory system, and orbit. Malignant lymphoma rarely occurs in orbit. The seven cases of malignant lymphoma involved extraocular muscles have been reported so far. The lesions were located in the superior rectus-levator complex[6 cases] and in the medial rectus muscle[1 case]. The authors experienced a case of malignant lymphoma occurring in the lateral rectus muscle in a 49-year-old male who had visited our hospital with proptosis of the left eye and diplopia. Histopathologic findings showed diffuse small lymphocytic Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The patient was treated with local orbital radiotherapy and the tumor didn`t recur during the follow-up of 6 months. We report the very unusually rare case of malignant lymphoma occurred in lateral rectus muscle with literature review.
