Abstract
PRK and LASIK have become common because of their high level of accuracy and predictability. There have been efforts of shooting laser on the visual axis more accurately. According to the marks that were made on the center of entrance pupil of the forty-two patients using slit lamp before surgery, we have performed operations on our patients, who underwent photorefractive surgery in the Severance hospital from March 1997 to February 1998. After we made the patient`s line of sight and examiner`s line of sight coaxial, we marked corneal center with sinskey hook. After surgery, we evaluated the amount of decentration relative to entrance pupil center in 20 eyes of PRK and 22 eyes of LASIK using corneal topography. Mean amount of decentration in PRK was 0.30+/-0.28 mm and in LASIK, 0.47+/-0.37 mm. As compared with the result of the surgery using traditional corneal centering method, there was smaller error in our method.
