Abstract |
We analysed 17 bullous keratopathy patients (17 eyes) with penetrating keratoplasty for 8years from February 1990 to May 1998 in the Department of Ophthalmology, St.Mary 's Hospital, Catholic University Medical College, retrospectively. Two eyes (12%) underwent intracapsular cataract extraction and anterior chamber lens implantation, 8 eyes (47%) extracapsular cataract extraction and anterior chamber lens implantation, 1 eye (6%) secondary anterior chamber lens implantation, 2 eyes (12%) penetrating keratoplasty, intracap-sular cataract extraction and anterior chamber lens implantation, and 2 eyes (12%) penetrating keratoplasty, extracapsular cataract extraction and anterior chamber lens implantation. The mean time from cataract extraction to bullous keratopathy was 34 months. The mean time from bullous keratopathy to penetrating keratoplasty was 26 months. The postoperative visual acuity of 15 eyes (88%) were improved than preoperative visual acuity. The factors that affect the visual acuity were macular edema, 1 eye (6%) and graft rejection, 1 eye (6%). Postoperative complications were glaucoma, 2 eyes (12%) and graft rejection, 1 eye (6%). |
