Abstract |
After laser photocoagulation and carbonic anhydrase inhibitor [Aceta-zolamide] were used to treat patients with the central serous chorioretinopathy, the authors analyzed the effectiveness of laser photocoagulation and carbonic anhydrase inhibitor on visual improvement, duration and recurrence rate as compared to untreated control group. Of 65 eyes [65 patients] of active central serous chorioretinopathy, 33 eyes [33 patients] were untreated, 15 eyes [15 patients] were treated with focal argon laser photocoagulation and 17 eyes [17 patients] were treated with Acetazolamide. We compared the duration of disease, final best-corrected visual acuity and recurrence rate of each group. And the effects of the position of leaking point, the number of leaking point and the type of dye leaking in fluorescein angiography and the size of sensory retinal detachment on duration, final best-corrected visual acuity and recurrence rate were investigated. The duration of foveal reflex return to positive was significantly short in laser photocoagulation group [P=0.0042] and in carbonic anhydrase inhibitor group [P=0.0095] than in untreated group, but final best-corrected visual acuity and recurrence rate were not statistically significant. We did not note an evidence of statistically significant difference in effects of the position of leaking point, the number of leaking point, the type of dye leaking and the size of sensory retinal detachment between treated and untreated groups. |
