Abstract
The authors experienced 4 cases of intraorbitl foreign foreign body in three men and one woman. Orbital CT scans demonstrated intraorbital foreign bodies as a case of a ball-pointpen, a case of a piece of glass and two cases of gun-shots. The case 1 was a ball-point pen which penetrated the inferior portion of the orbit through the lower eyelid. Removal of the foreign body was performed and the patient obtained good visual acuity and full extraocular movement. The case 2 was an elogated piece of glass which pierced the medial portion of the orbit, the othmoid bone and the brain parenchyme. The patient had no problem of visual acuity and extraocular movement following removal of the piece of glass. The case 3 qas intraorbital and intracranial foreign bodies of bullets. Thes patient was treated with medical therapy without removal of the foreign bodies and unilateral blindness due to optic atrophy was noted. The case 4 revealed retrobulbar foreign bodies of bullets. The patient had mild visual impairment due to vitreous hemorrhage following medical therapy without any operation.
