Abstract
To investigate the relationships between myopia and the extents of avascular retina and cryotherapy in premature infants who were treated by cryotherapy for threshold retinopathy of prematurity(ROP), the authors performed cycloplegic refraction in premature infants at the 6 months of age who had shown a complete regression of ROP without any residua after cryotherapy and evaluated the incidence and degree of myopia according to the extents of avascular retina and cryotherapy. The incidence of myopia was high regardless of the extets of avascular retina and cryotherapy, but the degree of myopia was increased according to the increasing extents of avascular retina and cryotherapy. Therefore, we concluded that the larger the extents of avascular retina and cryotheraty were, the more degree of myopia was developed.
