Abstract
The 1000 cases of the intraocular lens implantation had been performed from April 30th, 1985 to April 9th, 1987. The results were followings. 1) 591 IOLs were implanted to the men, and 309 IOLs were implanted to the women. 2) The age was ranged from 8 years to 88 years of age. Men were most common in fifties(201 eyes, 20.1%), and women were most common in seventies(105 eyes, 10.5%). 113 people got operations in both eyes. 3) Posterior chamber lenses were implanted to the 922 eyes(92.2%). Their diopteric powers were ranged from 10.0 to 24.0 diopter, and 19.5 diopter lenses were most commonly implanted(125 eyes, 12.5%). Anterior chamber lenses were implanted to the 78 eyes(7.8%). Their diopteric powers were ranged from 12.5 to 22.0 diopter, and 18.0 diopterlenses were most commonly implanted(12 eyes, 1.2%). 63 eyes(5.3%) got operations as a secondary implantation, 47 of which were anterior chamber lens, 16 of which were posterior chamber lenses. 4) 86.2% in 984 eyes had visual acuity more than 0.8, and 3.66% of them had visual acuity under 0.4 at 2 months after operation. Most of the causes of the low corrected vision were clinical cystoid macular edema(16 eyes, 1.63%) And diabetic retinopathy(4 eyes, 0.41%). 5) Intraoperative complications as followings had occurred in the 87 eyes(8.7%), hyphema (40 eyes, 4.0%) rupture of posterior capsule only (26 eyes, 2.6%) vitreous loss(7 eyes, 0.7%) corneal edema(7 eyes, 0.7%) stripping of Descemet's membrane(2 eyes, 0.2%) others (5 eyes, 0.5%). 6) Postoperative complications had occurred in the 290 eyes(29.47%) until 2 months after operation. About half of them were cystoid macular edema(86 eyes, 8.8%) and pupil distorsion(44 eyes, 4.47%).
